Emirates celebrates World First Aid Day as thousands of new cabin crew graduate with life-saving skills

Marking World First Aid Day this month, Emirates celebrates 3,000 new cabin crew recruits who are now equipped with top-notch aviation first aid skills, after successfully graduating from the airline’s rigorous cabin crew training program.

As part of a highly successful recruitment drive this year, Emirates has already hired 3,000 new joiners who undergo 8 weeks of intense ‘ab-initio’ training in order to become world-class cabin crew. The ab-initio period includes a myriad of courses from security to service, safety and emergency to hospitality, and the critically important medical response training. Far from the erroneous perception of cabin crew just serving meals and looking glamourous, Emirates crew are trained to manage a range of situations on board, and this includes learning essential life-saving skills. Using a combination of practical, in-situ, classroom and online learning, new recruits are taught invaluable lessons which prepare them for life, and to save the lives of others.

New Airbnb data shows how tourism has dispersed post-pandemic, benefiting rural off-the-beaten-path communities in the Philippines and Southeast Asia

  • Across parts of Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific, Airbnb recorded an increase in non-urban nights booked in Q2 2022 when compared with Q2 2019
  • In the Philippines, travel interest in destinations outside major cities have increased with guest searches for Siquijor surging over 280 percent
  • Tourism dispersal is creating new economic opportunities for more people in emerging destinations as they look for ways to combat rising costs of living

 

 

As the travel rebound continues to unfold, the benefits of tourism are spreading across the Asia Pacific. In Southeast Asia, new analysis by Airbnb reveals that the resurgence in domestic and inbound tourism is empowering locals to earn a living and make ends meet.

Emirates and AEGEAN announce a codeshare partnership

Emirates passengers to access eight new Greek cities via Athens

From October 2022, joint network to include eight additional European regional points

Emirates is activating a new codeshare partnership today with AEGEAN, allowing its customers to benefit from increased connectivity to eight domestic Greek points via Athens, using a single ticket. Emirates will place its code on AEGEAN operated flights, providing customers with a convenient and seamless booking experience as well as one consistent baggage policy, to popular destinations: Kerkyra, Chania, Irakleion, Mikonos, Thira, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Alexandropoulos. Under the codeshare agreement, AEGEAN will also place its code on Emirates-operated flights between Dubai and Athens for their customers to benefit from smooth connections to Dubai and onward. Travel itineraries can now be booked on emirates.com and aegeanair.com, with travel agents as well as online travel agents (OTAs), for travel immediately.

SM Cares holds nationwide art exhibit, free webinar for National Breastfeeding Awareness Month

As part of its efforts to further create an inclusive environment for breastfeeding mothers in all SM Malls, SM Cares celebrated the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month last August with a number of activities that promoted breastfeeding and the important role that it plays in the health and well-being of mothers and their infants.

Among the highlights of the month-long celebration was the "Art with a Heart" exhibit, presenting unique interpretations of breastfeeding. The exhibit featured more than 400 artworks by 170 local artists from different parts of the country.

Clockwork planning and testing begins to achieve turnaround time of 16 days per aircraft

Emirates has kick-started its plans to upgrade the entire interior cabins of 120 Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft – two of the largest commercial aircraft types in service today.

This ambitious project, representing a multi-billion dollar investment to ensure Emirates’ customers "fly better" for the coming years, officially commences in November and is managed entirely by Emirates’ Engineering team.

Ortigas Malls receives international recognition at the 2022 International Business Awards

Ortigas Malls brought home two awards at the recently held 2022 International Business Awards (IBA)--a Silver Stevie Award for PR Campaign of the Year in Community Engagement for its Elite Pet Society campaign and a Bronze Stevie Award for Most Valuable Corporate Response for its pandemic efforts.

IBA, also known as the International Stevies, is the world’s premier business awards designed to honor outstanding workplaces all over the world.

The Elite Pet Society campaign, which was awarded a Silver Stevie, sought to introduce more pet-friendly innovations in the country, mainly through a mobile app that serves as a loyalty program for pet owners in the Ortigas community. The program revolutionized the pet care experience as it engaged animal enthusiasts — with rewarding deals, access to exclusive events, and other perks every time they provided for their beloved pets.
