The Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod

With SM Aura open, there are also a lot of unique places the premiere mall has to offer. And one of them is unlike the usual tenants. As SM is known for retail and department stores, they also have a place of worship and contemplation, the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod.

Named after the newly-declared Filipino saint, the chapel is located at the seventh level of SM Aura as part of the Sky Park which Samsung Hall is also located.

I have always wanted to celebrate mass in this chapel aside from being new, it would also be another spiritual oasis for me here in the busy city with so much to do and churches and chapels are reminders for the urban dwellers to at least stop for a while, pray and be calm.

Why location still matters

It’s an oft-quoted remark that when buying a property, there are only three things that one should consider: location, location, location. This emphasis on where the property is sited rests its argument that location will determine the quality of your life and how fast—or how slow—your property will appreciate in value. Of course, a variety of market forces dictates the price of real estate but it’s safe to assume that the more urbanized the area is, the more expensive the property becomes.

“Aside from the track record of the developer, another crucial factor to consider is location,” says Emma Amores, Corporate Communications Head. “Way before planning for our high-rise developments, we have already determined key areas that are desirable for the end user and have the most potential for growth. We also play to the strengths of the location. For instance, in Katipunan, we know that our target market there is composed mainly of parents who want to give their children the best possible accommodation in their college life.”

MT. PINATUBO TRAVEL ADVISORY NO. 01-2013

The recent spate of untoward incidents that has occurred in and around the crater of Mt. Pinatubo demonstrates a dire need for the Department of Tourism – Region 3 Office to issue its own travel advisory relating to the safety and security of foreign and local tourists aiming to venture into a lahar-laden landscape.

This advisory hereby serves as a WARNING to all tourists who intend to mount an uphill climb to crater of Mt. Pinatubo in Zambales via the jump-off point in Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac that the serene yet crystal blue lake thereat is meant to be a glorious and majestic vista to behold only to be charmed by its natural beauty; never to be treated like a resort playground for swimming, kayaking or aqua cycling. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has determined that the Pinatubo crater lake water which contains hazardous substances such as arsenic (As), aluminum (Al), boron (BO), chloride (Cl), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), sulphate (SO4) and total solids (TDS) may affect the human health in various ways and may become fatal over an extended period of time. Tourists are forewarned never to stay close to the lakeshore as this poses a potential threat to one’s life due mainly to frequent occurrences of rock falls and landslides, especially during heavy downpour.
