Filipino cast members and Disney Characters are preparing to welcome guests for a unique Christmas family experience at the park
To celebrate the park’s 10th anniversary, Hong Kong Disneyland recently announced a series of exciting, spectacular line-ups for this important milestone. This sensational, all-park event features the largest-scale musical performed live by the greatest Disney characters and cast members, magical stage designs, extraordinary dance performances and many more heart-warming moments, and delivers Filipino families a truly “Happily Ever After” celebration this Christmas. In addition, the park has also invited media friends from the Philippines for an early Noche Buena to celebrate this special moment with cast members, who consider the world class entertainment stage at Hong Kong Disneyland as their home.
Journey through a live magical book
The much-awaited and large-scale production musical, "Mickey and the Wondrous Book," brings to life the greatest Disney stories of all time, where guests will be immersed in seven beloved Disney tales. With a mixture of modern and classic elements in the story, music, choreography, costume, and set design, the 28-minute new stage show opening at Disney’s Storybook Theater begins with Mickey Mouse and Goofy discovering that a wondrous book exists in a library.
“Mickey and the Wondrous Book,” performed by 70 local and international talents, features 23 original costume designs and 63 pieces of instruments culminating in the 10th anniversary theme song, “Happily Ever After.” After eight weeks of rehearsals, the entire crew of over 200 production team members from 10 different nationalities are committed in delivering a world-class performance and providing our guests a memorable experience,” said David Lightbody, Director, Entertainment & Costuming, Hong Kong Disneyland. “Our Filipino talents who are passionate in music and shows, are also playing important roles in this stage show and many of them joined us even before the Park was opened ten years ago,” added Lightbody.
"To be a part of the development of the music of "Mickey and the Wondrous Book" was quite a thrilling experience. The creative team worked closely with musical directors and arrangers from the U.S. and took all-time favorite Disney classics and gave them a contemporary twist for guests of all ages to enjoy. As Mickey Mouse travels from chapter to chapter, the music landscape changes too, from Bollywood to pop, Broadway style musical to hip hop and gospel to jazz. It's quite an exciting journey," said Rony Fortich, Musical Director of Hong Kong Disneyland, from the Philippines, who has been bringing magic to guests at Hong Kong Disneyland since 2005.
“We are proud to have our talented Filipino cast members Gian Magdangal and Raki Vega singing the 10th anniversary theme song "Happily Ever After" in the park. We are also thrilled to have celebrity Janella Salvador singing the song, both in English and Tagalog for the Philippine market. The song and MV starring Janella will be on-air in the Philippines this December,” Fortich added.
Brilliant castle projection adds magic to fireworks show
The exhilarating “Disney in the Stars” Fireworks is made even more breathtaking by sophisticated projection-mapping technology and every night Sleeping Beauty Castle is set aglow in the all-new moving light projection show. The Castle serves as a giant stage to present a new sterling cast of 49 beloved Disney friends, including 16 newly added characters from “Inside Out,” “Finding Nemo,” “Big Hero Six,” “Cars,” and the upcoming release, “Finding Dory.” The seamless choreography of stunning fireworks and Castle projection makes a perfect finale for a magical day at the park.
Fairy Tale Forest-Presented by PANDORA – Picture-perfect forest recreates fairy tale scenes
The enchanting Fairy Tale Forest, unveiling at Fantasyland on December 17, recreates the miniature iconic scenes of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Cinderella,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tangled.” The music-box scenes come to life when activated to re-enact well-loved scenes from the classic Disney Princess stories. Disney’s most famous and magical fairy, Tinker Bell, will be here in Pixie Hollow, awaiting to meet visitors and sprinkle some magical pixie dust.
“We have spent over two years to build Fairy Tale Forest from its conceptual design. It is an intricately designed maze set in a beautiful garden setting, presenting spectacles of five cherished princesses at every corner! This attraction is bound to give guests more opportunities in creating snapshots of these classic Disney fairytales,” said Kelly Willis, Director of Creative Development and Show Quality, Walt Disney Imagineering.

Main Street, U.S.A. is majestically festive when Queen Elsa uses her magical power to light up the Christmas tree and the star on top, while both sides around it will show spectacular projections.
