Finalist Phase (21 Oct 2013 - 7 July 2014) of the selection process of the New 7 Wonders Cities has now ended last July 7 and they have named 21 finalist cities who are still in the running to be named as the New 7 Wonder Cities. From the thousands of nominations shortlisted into hundreds, then getting through the phases. They made the announcement first on their website at www.new7wonders.com and then to their other social media sites. Here is their announcement made on facebook:
The 21 Official Finalists that have been voted through to the next round of the New7Wonders Cities campaign are: Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Havana, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mendoza, Mexico City, Mumbai, Perth, Quito, Reykjavik, Saint Petersburg, Seoul, Shenzhen and Vigan.
With Vigan City as the clincher because it is in alphabetical order, Filipinos especially the Ilocanos are very happy with the announcement. Next voting phase is from 7th July 2014 - 7th Oct 2014. Votes have now been reset and everyone can vote again for their top 7 cities to be included in the final list to be announced on December 7, 2014.
