Araneta City ushers in the holiday season with the return of Parolan bazaar

The start of the Christmas season in the Philippines is marked by the appearance of colorful lanterns that brighten homes and communities across the country. In Araneta City, where generations of Filipinos have celebrated Christmas through the years, the season begins to unfold once again with the opening of this year's Parolan bazaar on October 1.

For years, Parolan has signaled the start of the Christmas season for many shoppers in Araneta City, becoming one of the holiday traditions that generations of families have come to associate with the City of Firsts. This seasonal marketplace brings together vendors offering a wide selection of handmade lanterns, festive decorations, gift items, and holiday essentials in one convenient location.

Visitors can choose from an array of parols, from grand Pampanga-style lanterns with intricate designs and vibrant light displays, to traditional bamboo and capiz lanterns that evoke the warmth and nostalgia of a Filipino Christmas. There are also other holiday décor items such as Christmas tree ornaments, garlands, fairy lights, and nativity sets.

Adding to the festive experience is a nearby food market, where shoppers can enjoy well-loved holiday street favorites, including puto bumbong, bibingka, grilled barbecue, coffee, and other comfort food treats.

Best of all, Parolan offers an accessible alternative to the chaotic wholesale markets or crowded shopping malls, creating a much more relaxed shopping experience. Parolan offers visitors a convenient way to complete their Christmas shopping while enjoying the seasonal atmosphere that has become part of the Araneta City experience.

“The annual Parolan bazaar in Araneta City has been a cherished holiday tradition for generations of families who view decorating as an essential part of their Christmas celebrations,” said Araneta City Vice President for Marketing Marjorie Go. “It is always a privilege for us to host this vibrant marketplace, which stands as just one of the many festive experiences we have prepared across the City of Firsts to make the holiday season merrier, brighter, and truly unforgettable for everyone.”

Parolan is located at Expo Centro Parking of Farmers Garden in Araneta City. It is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM until December 31, 2026.

Make your holidays merrier and brighter by gathering your loved ones for an unforgettable experience as you shop, dine, and celebrate at the City of Firsts!
